Jacques Pauw has landed another knockout blow to the State
Security Agency (SSA), by labelling them a hot-spot of fraudulent
activity. He was speaking at a launch for his dynamite expose “The President’s Keepers” in Hyde Park, JHB. His book has caused shockwaves across South Africa, as it blows open the secrets of Jacob Zuma’s presidency and his gangster-style regime.
Jacques Pauw slates State Security Agency ‘black hole’
The author blasted the SSA for their wastefulness, and said that they have been able to get away with grand-scale corruption because they operate in secret. Therefore, nobody is holding them to account.Pauw, a veteran investigative journalist, believes that the agency spent two years on an unnamed project that effectively lead nowhere, but was financed by the taxpayer. He estimates that over R1bn was ploughed into the fruitless operation.
What did SSA really do with the money?
Through his lines of inquiry, Jacques Pauw thinks the money was siphoned off into different areas of the ANC. He also claims that ‘large portions’ of the missing R1bn have funded the leadership campaigns of certain party members in the race to replace Jacob Zuma.Addressing a packed crowd in the Hyde Park Mall, Mr Pauw made his frustrations with the SSA’s lack of responsibility known.
“A billion rand of your money was spent on a project that produced absolutely nothing. Not even the Auditor-General has privileges of auditing the agency. Where do you think hundreds of millions of rands is going? It’s probably going to support certain factions in the ANC.”
The President’s Keepers launch hit by suspicious blackouts
As Pauw began his launch at the Exclusive Books store, a conveniently-timed power outage hit the venue, limiting the writer to addressing his audience in the dark.Though his interview and Q&A session was cut short, hundreds stayed behind to get their copies signed. Hyde Park Mall staff claimed they’d never experienced a power cut there before, nor had they struggled to get mobile data like they did last night.
If this really was a case of sabotage, then these people can cut the switches all they want. The truth is, the Pauwer is with the people.
