Dove has issued a statement apologising
after one of their social media adverts went viral for all the wrong
reasons. Good enough response?

This Dove saga is one of the most mind-boggling acts of
stupidity on the part of the cosmetics giant. One has to wonder how that
advert even got made let alone how the concept was pitched in a meeting
and no one said anything. It all started when a video was posted to the companies American Facebook page. It showed a black woman taking off her t-shirt, using the product and then turning into a white woman.

The brand said that it had “missed the mark” with regards to accurately representing women of colour. They apologised for any offence caused and stated that the company does not condone any activity or imagery that insults any audience.
While the advert was deleted quickly, we all know that nothing can ever really disappear from the internet.
Us South Africans also had a lot to say about the Dove disaster, none of it looks like its going to help the company’s soap sales anytime soon.
#DoveMustFall began trending as South Africans vowed to no longer buy the brand’s products.
Some even took shots at Dove through humorous skits showing just how ridiculous the advert really is.
